Summer's been Tango'd!

I was watching one of my favourite movies for the first time in ages the other day, 'An Affair To Remember', and i had forgotten about the beautiful orange ensemble that Deborah Kerr wears the first time smooth and seductive Cary Grant meets her in the movie. Of course if any of you like to keep an eye on the fashion catwalks then you'll be thinking the same as i am right now after looking at these images.

Of course, it's one of this spring/summer's colour trend. Personally i don't know if i would have the guts to actually wear such a bright shade. I love working with colours artistically but have problems owning them in my wardrobe! however i am getting there and the YSL shirt below is to die for. I think i would throw my issues (and maybe my left leg) out the window if someone actually offered me that shirt.

So, to honour this trend in my own personal way without having to tackle my inhibitions of wearing such a bright colour, I have done a illustrated portrait of a friend. Orange happens to be a loved colour of hers at the moment so i thought this would be fitting. :) click on the image to see it larger.

Introduction.

Good morning, good evening.
In short, i am Alexandra Cook, currently living in london and this is my new blog; the first of many things i plan to do to advertise my personal artwork aside from my university course.
I study at London College of Fashion doing a fashion/ surface textiles course, a sort of love hate situation as what i love the most is illustration, however at least I'm learning a heck of a lot of new things.

Things to look forward to:
